Despite everything, a little bit of happiness

A lot has happened recently. But despite everything I don’t find myself wallowing in misery or self-pity. Sure, I’m not totally unaffected by things, but many things in life are finite. Relationships, jobs, situations, life itself.

Sometimes things happen in life that you make you more aware of what you actually have, how good you actually have it. Sometimes things happen to either show you or remind you of who you really are or things about yourself that you’ve forgotten. And sometimes when you should be sad that something ended, you find that you’re actually happy with the way things have turned out.

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

We all need a little light sometimes. And it can be hard to remember that that light often comes from within ourselves. Just like happiness. Our happiness isn’t anyone’s responsibility but our own. We are the ones that write our stories. Everything in our lives that happens all depends on how we react to things.

Maybe it’s time to start acting instead of reacting. Stop letting other people control my story. Take charge. Be my own author instead of having a ghost writer.

It’s time to take back control. I started the process, started to become who I wanted to be, and now it’s time to finish and live the life that I want to live. I’m done letting other people control the narrative.

I’m feeling very strong. Very in control. Very motivated. Determined.

New year, new me got nothing on how I’m feeling right now.
