Anyone else fascinated by the crisis in the Suez Canal?

I almost hate to admit how closely I’ve been trying to follow this. The official word is that it all started when a gust of wind blew the ship askew. I’m sorry, what? Just how strong was this wind? The Ever Given is a massive ship, and it’s got 20,000 shipping containers on it. This isn’t a small ship by any stretch of the imagination.

They brought in a fleet of tugs, and then came the dredgers. I got a notification while I was at the gym after work (yes, at 11:30 PM) that the ship has been partially refloated.

I’m sorry, I hate to say it, but this whole debacle makes me laugh a little. Especially the “gust of wind” part. I mean, I don’t know much about canals, so maybe this really is possible, but the way it’s being reported is just a tad bit comical.
